The National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS) is a research institution dedicated to South China Sea studies and relevant academic activities. NISCSS has come a long way, from the establishment of its predecessor Hainan South China Sea Research Center in 1996, to its elevation into a national level of competence in 2004 and further to the full functioning of its new premises today.
